Michael van Gerwen, Gian van Veen, Gerwyn Price, Stephen Bunting and Josh Rock are among the star names competing at the 2026 Elten Safety Shoes European Darts Trophy in Germany.
Dave Chisnall lit up night one by recovering from 5-0 down to beat Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-5 and secure a second-round meeting with Ross Smith on Saturday, the stage at which the seeded players enter.
Joe Cullen was another player to advance and will take on Price next, while Kevin Doets averaged a staggering 117.12, the best-ever at the European Darts Trophy and joint-fifth highest of all time on the European Tour, during a 6-0 sweep of Jonas Masalin.
Luke Littler is absent along with Luke Humphries, Jonny Clayton, Nathan Aspinall, Gary Anderson and James Wade.
'The Nuke' has previously received a hostile reception from crowds in Germany and held in Sindelfingen.
The European Darts Trophy runs until Sunday, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final held in the evening.
