Premier League Darts: Gian van Veen withdraws from Night Seven in Dublin due to kidney stones

Gian van Veen has withdrawn from Night Seven in the Premier League in Dublin after being diagnosed with kidney stones.

The Dutch No 1 had been due to face Michael van Gerwen in Thursday night's quarter-final matchup, with the latter now receiving a bye through to the semi-finals.

Van Gerwen also receives two league points and a +1 leg difference while Van Veen surrenders a -6 leg difference and gets no points.

Van Veen currently sits in fourth place through six nights after finishing runner-up three times, but has been ruled out while he remains in hospital.

Jonny Clayton arrives in Dublin eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and seeking to win his third consecutive night after success in Glasgow and Nottingham.

Van Veen is one of three players on nine points alongside Gerwyn Price and Luke Humphries amid a tight race for finals night, with Van Gerwen trailing the group on eight points.

The 23-year-old is a two-time world youth champion and in the middle of his debut season in the Premier League after reaching the final of the World Darts Championship, where he was beaten by back-to-back winner Luke Littler.

He announced himself last year by beating Humphries in the final of the European Championship to clinch his first ranked title.

Night Seven of the darting roadshow will take place at Dublin's 3Arena, where Stephen Bunting takes on Luke Littler, Josh Rock goes up against Gerwyn Price for the first time in this year's Premier League, and table-topper Clayton meets reigning champion Humphries in a repeat of last Thursday's final.

Who will win this year's Premier League Darts? Luke Humphries is defending his title and you can watch the action every single Thursday until May on Your Site. .
