Okay, let's talk Legends: Arceus. We all love it, right? Roaming free, chucking Poké Balls, and generally causing chaos in the name of science.
But something's been bugging me. And I think I'm ready to say it out loud. Prepare yourselves for a potentially controversial take.
Are Natures really a thing?
Don't get me wrong, I know they exist in the game's code. The UI even tells you what Nature each Pokémon has. It’s right there! But does it actually matter? Like, really matter?
Hear me out. In past games, Natures were crucial. Choosing the right one could make or break your competitive team. A +Attack, -Special Attack Adamant nature was like finding the Holy Grail for physical attackers.
But Legends: Arceus is different. It’s all about exploration and catching. The battles are simpler. The focus is less on min-maxing.
The Effort Levels (ELs) Factor
We've got Effort Levels (ELs) now. These things are stat steroids! You can pump up any stat you want on any Pokémon. Regardless of its inherent Nature.
Forget about that Modest Bidoof. Just max out its Special Attack with ELs! Boom! Instant special sweeper (sort of).

Does that Quiet Piplup really need to be faster? ELs can fix that. Forget its Nature deficiency.
The Catching Game
Seriously, think about it. We're mostly catching Pokémon in this game. Lots and lots of Pokémon.
Are you honestly checking every single Basculegion you catch for the perfect Nature? I doubt it. You're probably just grabbing the first one that doesn’t immediately flee.
I know I'm not. The constant barrage of Pokémon makes a good Nature feel like a fun bonus, instead of a hard requirement.

The Battle System
The battle system is just... different. It's more about aggressive plays than super strategic builds. Buffs are common, defense is not. You usually one-shot or get one-shotted.
We have Agile and Strong style moves. These moves change everything. They're way more impactful than a measly Nature boost.
Did that Nature really affect that battle, or did your Strong style Water Gun just land a critical hit? Yeah, I thought so.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Okay, here it comes. My potentially blasphemous, utterly ridiculous opinion...
I think Natures in Legends: Arceus are, dare I say, almost irrelevant.
How To Change A Pokémon's Nature In Legends: Arceus
Gasp! I said it! Please don't banish me to the Distortion World.
I’m not saying they're completely useless. A beneficial Nature is always nice. But they’re not nearly as important as in previous Pokémon titles.
ELs, the catching focus, the different battle system… it all adds up. Natures feel more like a flavor element than a core mechanic.
The Joy of the Game
Legends: Arceus is about fun! It's about the thrill of the chase, the joy of discovery, and the satisfaction of completing the Pokédex.
How to Catch the Forces of Nature in Pokemon Legends Arceus
Spending hours hunting for the perfect Nature kind of defeats the purpose. It turns a relaxed experience into a grind.
I'd rather spend my time exploring ancient Hisui, thanks. I'll take my imperfectly Natured Luxray and be happy about it.
So, what do you think?
Am I crazy? Am I missing something crucial? Are you all secretly breeding perfect Nature Pokémon in Jubilife Village?
Let me know! I'm open to being convinced otherwise. Maybe I've been playing this game wrong the whole time.
But until then, I'm sticking with my unpopular opinion. Natures in Legends: Arceus? Overrated.
