Average Internet Bill In Colorado Springs

Okay, Colorado Springs friends, let's talk about something near and dear to our wallets: the internet bill. Specifically, the average internet bill. It’s a topic about as exciting as watching paint dry, but hey, we all pay it, right?
The Dreaded Monthly Drain
So, what are we coughing up each month for the privilege of doomscrolling, binging Netflix, and pretending to work from home? Finding a straight answer is like finding a decent parking spot downtown on a Saturday night. Good luck with that!
You see those ads boasting super-fast speeds for, like, twenty bucks a month? Yeah, that's usually a trap. They lure you in, then BAM! Hidden fees, promotional periods that expire faster than a gallon of milk in July, and suddenly you're paying double. We've all been there. Don't even get me started on equipment rentals!
Must Read
From what I've gathered (and from the collective groans of my neighbors), the average internet bill in Colorado Springs seems to hover somewhere between $60 and $90. Of course, that's a wide range. It depends on your provider, your chosen speed, and whether you're bundled up with cable (who even watches cable anymore?).
My Unpopular Opinion: It's Too Darn High!
Now for my hot take. Ready? I think it's too expensive. I said it! In this day and age, internet access is practically a utility. It's as essential as electricity or water. We need it for everything! Yet, we're still paying a premium for it.

"But think of the infrastructure!"someone will inevitably shout. Yes, yes, the infrastructure. I get it. Building and maintaining those networks costs money. But come on, these companies are rolling in dough! Can't they cut us a little slack?
I'm not saying the internet should be free. (Though, wouldn't that be nice?) I'm just saying that for the service we're getting, the price feels a bit…gouging. Especially when you consider that a lot of us are still stuck with only one or two viable providers. Where's the competition? Where's the incentive to lower prices?
And the customer service? Don't even get me started. Spending an hour on hold, only to be transferred to five different departments and finally disconnected? That's practically a rite of passage in Colorado Springs. We should get a medal for that.

The Need for Speed (and Affordability)
Of course, everyone wants blazing fast speeds. We need to stream our shows in 4K! We need to download giant video games! We need to… well, mostly we just need to scroll endlessly through social media without buffering. But do we really need gigabit speeds? Or are we just being upsold?
Maybe, just maybe, we could all save a few bucks by downgrading our plans a notch. I know, the thought is terrifying. But think of what you could do with that extra $20 a month! That's a fancy coffee every week! Or, you know, a small dent in your ever-growing grocery bill.

So, what's the solution? I don't have all the answers. But I do think we need to start demanding better service and more affordable prices from our internet providers. Maybe if enough of us complain, they'll actually listen. Or maybe they'll just raise the prices again. Who knows?
In the meantime, I'll keep grumbling about my internet bill and dreaming of the day when high-speed, affordable internet is a right, not a privilege. And I'll probably keep watching Netflix, too. Because, let's be honest, what else are we going to do?
What do YOU pay for internet in Colorado Springs? Am I way off base with my $60-$90 estimate? Let me know in the comments! Misery loves company, right?
