Let's talk Colorado license plates. Specifically, the EV ones.

You know, the ones that scream, "I'm saving the planet…and also maybe getting HOV access!"

Are They Kinda…Boring?

Okay, okay, hear me out. I'm not saying EVs are boring.

I'm just saying the license plate itself could use a little…oomph.

Compared to some states' designs, ours are, shall we say, understated?

The Green Leaf Situation

That little green leaf. Is it inspiring? Environmentally conscious?

Or just…a green leaf? My unpopular opinion? Kinda bland.

I almost miss the old-school mountain scene. Remember those?

They felt a bit more Colorado, a bit more…us.

What About the Numbers?

And the numbers themselves! They are so random.

I've seen some truly uninspired combinations.

Couldn't we at least get some that sound like cool robot names? Or maybe some funny acronyms?

Think of the possibilities!

The Problem with Beige

I know it's a neutral color, but the background color screams “beige”.

Beige doesn't exactly inspire images of cutting-edge technology.

It’s more like…sand.

A Call for Creativity!

Seriously, Colorado, we can do better!

We're a state known for innovation, for adventure, for…well, coolness.

Our EV plates should reflect that!

Dreaming of a Revamp

Imagine a license plate with a stylized electric bolt.

Or a futuristic mountain range reflecting a solar panel.

Or even just a brighter, bolder color scheme!

The Practicality Argument

Okay, I get it. License plates need to be legible. They need to be standardized.

They need to be easy for law enforcement to read.

But surely, we can achieve that while still injecting some personality!

Function Over Fashion?

Is it too much to ask for a little fashion with our function?

Are we doomed to drive around with plates that look like they were designed by a committee of spreadsheets?

I hope not!

My Unpopular Opinion: They're a Missed Opportunity

Here's the truth. I think the EV license plates are a missed opportunity.

They could be a statement. A conversation starter. A little piece of art on wheels.

Instead, they're just…there.

A Little Spark of Joy

Driving an EV should be exciting! It's a step towards a cleaner future.

Shouldn't our license plates reflect that little spark of joy?

I think so.

It's Not Just About Vanity, Is It?

Maybe I'm being superficial. Maybe I'm just obsessed with aesthetics.

But I think good design matters. It communicates values.

It makes things more enjoyable.

Sending the Right Message

Instead, we're sending a message of…beige-ness.

Is that really the message we want to send?

The People Have Spoken (Maybe)

Okay, I haven't actually conducted a scientific poll.

But I've talked to a few EV owners. And some non-EV owners too.

And the consensus seems to be…meh.

Apathy is the Enemy

Apathy. That's the real enemy here.

We've become so accustomed to bland license plates that we don't even notice them anymore.

It's time to wake up, Colorado! It's time to demand better plate designs!

A Call to Action (Sort Of)

So, what can we do? Write to our representatives? Start a petition?

Probably not. But we can at least talk about it!

We can raise awareness! We can dream of a better, more stylish future for our EV license plates!
