Maybe I’m just not a fan of this particular brand of humor. Maybe I prefer my parodies a bit more subtle.

The Characters: Exaggerated to the Extreme

Ashtray going back to live with his grandma? Grandma smoking weed and rocking curlers? Sure, it's a visual gag. But does it make me laugh? Not really.

Loc Dog's obsession with weapons? The ridiculous names? It's all meant to be funny. I get it.

But the characters feel more like caricatures. They're so over-the-top they become almost… annoying.

Am I Missing Something?

Maybe it's a generational thing. Maybe you had to be there, watching it when it first came out. Maybe the context is crucial.

I wasn't. I saw it later. Perhaps that’s why I’m not as enthusiastic about it.

Or maybe, and this is a radical thought, humor is subjective. What one person finds hilarious, another might find…meh.

Respect the Classic, But…

I respect Don't Be a Menace. I understand its cultural significance. I acknowledge the Wayans brothers' talent.

I just don't find it that funny. And that’s okay, right? It's okay to have an unpopular opinion.
