How Long Has It Been Since January 1 2025

Okay, let's get real for a second. How long ago was January 1st, 2025? Feels like a lifetime, right? Or maybe just last week. Time is weird. Don't @ me.

Seriously Though, Where Did the Time Go?

Remember all those New Year's resolutions we made? Vow to learn a new language? Write that novel? Finally organize the junk drawer? Yeah, me neither. It’s all a blur. The good intentions probably dissolved sometime around mid-January. That's my guess, anyway.

Technically, if you're reading this sometime in late 2024, January 1st, 2025 hasn’t happened yet. But let's pretend it has. For the sake of this very important discussion, let's imagine we are living in the future. Because sometimes, I swear, my brain already is.

Thinking back (or maybe forward?) to January 1st, 2025... It feels like a distant memory. Was the New Year's Eve party good? Did you wear something sparkly? Did you regret your outfit choice the next morning? Did you eat too much cheese? (Spoiler: you probably did).

The Unofficial Time Measurement System

I have a highly scientific method for measuring time. It's based on how many times I've had to refill my coffee mug since then. Or maybe how many loads of laundry I've done. It's an inexact science. But highly effective. At least in my own opinion.

By my calculations, January 1st, 2025 was approximately 372 coffees and 14 trips to the grocery store ago. Give or take. Give a lot. My math skills are… flexible. Let's just say, they're more like interpretive dance than actual calculations.

Okay, maybe I’m misremembering who said that. But it sounds like something he would say. And that's close enough, right?

The "Did That Actually Happen?" Phenomenon

Isn't it strange how some things feel like they happened years ago, when in reality it was just last Tuesday? And other things feel like yesterday, even though they happened back when dial-up internet was still a thing? I'm convinced time plays favorites. It has a secret agenda. And I'm pretty sure I'm not on its VIP list.

Maybe January 1st, 2025, existed in a different timeline. Perhaps we slipped into an alternate dimension where New Year's Day involves sentient robot butlers and flying cars. (Please, please, please let this be true.)

My Unpopular Opinion: Time Needs a Vacation

Here’s my (possibly) controversial take: Time is working too hard. It needs a break. A long, relaxing spa day. Maybe a tropical vacation. A chance to just chill out and stop messing with our perception of reality.

If Time took a vacation, maybe things wouldn't feel so… blurry. Maybe we could actually remember what we did last week. Maybe we could finally finish those New Year's resolutions. (Okay, probably not, but a girl can dream.)

So, how long ago was January 1st, 2025? Too long. Not long enough. It depends on the day, the coffee supply, and whether or not the robot butlers have arrived yet. And honestly, who even knows anymore? All I know is, I need more coffee.

And maybe a robot butler.

And definitely a vacation for Time. Someone please tell Time to take a vacation.
