But honestly? Sometimes I just whisper to myself, "I hate living in Detroit, on God." Don't @ me.

The "D-troit vs. Everybody" Thing

Look, the city pride is intense. And admirable, truly. But sometimes, it feels like a competition.

Like, if you even mention considering leaving, you're branded a traitor. Suddenly, you're public enemy number one. I get it, but relax!

I want to love it here. I do. But there are days...

Pothole Paradise

Let's be real, the roads. The roads are a special kind of torture.

It's like a video game dodging potholes. Except the stakes are much higher (like, your car's alignment). My mechanic's on speed dial.

Honestly, I think my car identifies as an off-road vehicle now.

The "Hustle" Culture

Detroit's got a hustle. A real grind. The entrepreneurial spirit is contagious.

But sometimes, it feels like you have to be "hustling" 24/7. What about chilling?

Can't a person just, you know, relax without feeling guilty?

Parking Problems, Parking Tickets

Finding parking downtown? Forget about it. It's a blood sport.

And those parking tickets! Ouch. They hit harder than a Lions loss. (Okay, maybe not that hard.)

My wallet weeps every time I see that little orange envelope.

The Weather (Oh, the Weather!)

Michigan weather in general is… unpredictable. One day it's sunshine, the next it's a blizzard.

In Detroit, it seems amplified. Prepare for all four seasons in a single afternoon.

My closet looks like a costume shop because I need every type of clothing available at a moment's notice.

The "Authenticity" Debate

Everyone talks about Detroit's "authenticity." And it's true, there's something special about it.

But sometimes, that "authenticity" feels like a code word for "stuck in the past." Can we modernize a little, please?

I like progress. Is that so wrong?

Is it Me? Maybe.

Maybe I'm just complaining. Maybe I'm too picky. Maybe I need more Vitamin D.

But sometimes, I just look around and think, “Is this really it?” I'm being honest.

Detroit has changed. It has, for sure. But is it enough?

The Love/Hate Thing

I complain, but I also defend Detroit fiercely. I know, I'm a walking contradiction.

Deep down, there's a part of me that does love this crazy, chaotic, beautiful city.
