Lyric Prank On Best Friend

Okay, so you know how sometimes you just get this brilliant idea? Like, one of those ideas that’s so good, so mischievous, you just HAVE to do it? Well, that's exactly what happened to me last week. And it involved my best friend, Sarah, and a whole lotta Taylor Swift lyrics. (Don't judge! Everyone secretly loves Taylor.)
Yep, I'm talking about a lyric prank. A classic, I know. But classics are classics for a reason, right? Plus, I was feeling a bit… bored. Okay, really bored. And Sarah is the perfect person to prank. She’s got a great sense of humor, and she can usually give as good as she gets. Plus, I knew she’d appreciate the artistic integrity of my chosen lyrics. (Okay, maybe not appreciate. Tolerate? Endure? We'll go with endure.)
The Master Plan (aka Operation Swiftie)
The key to a good lyric prank is choosing the right song. You can't just pick anything. It needs to be something that can be twisted and turned into a believable conversation. After much deliberation (and listening to way too much pop music), I settled on "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." It's dramatic, it's relatable, and it's perfect for a little friendly fire.
Must Read
Next up: strategy. I decided to start slow, ease her in, and see how long it would take her to catch on. A slow burn, if you will. I'm basically a comedic genius, right?
The Execution (or, My Descent into Madness)
Here’s how it went down:
Me: I remember when we broke up the first time…

Sarah: Uh…okay? When was that? I don't remember breaking up with you. Should I be concerned?
See? Already working! She's confused! Mission: Accomplished (sort of).
Me: Saying, "This is it, I've had enough" 'cause like, we hadn't seen each other in a month, when you said you needed space.
Sarah: Okay, now I'm definitely concerned. Are you having a breakdown? Did you eat something weird? Do I need to call someone?

At this point, I was practically crying with laughter. She was so worried! I felt a tiny bit guilty…but only a tiny bit.
Me: But then you come around again and say, "Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change, trust me." Remember how that lasted for like, a day?
Sarah: Dude. What. Is. Happening? Are you quoting something? It sounds vaguely familiar… like a really annoying pop song. Wait a minute…

Aha! She’s onto me! The jig is up! I knew she'd figure it out eventually. She's too smart for her own good (and definitely too smart for my evil plans).
Sarah: ARE YOU LYRIC PRANKING ME WITH TAYLOR SWIFT?!
Me: (Bursting out laughing) Maybe…?
The Aftermath (aka Sweet, Sweet Revenge)
Of course, Sarah wasn't just going to let me get away with it. Oh no. She immediately retaliated with a lyric prank of her own. Let's just say it involved a certain Canadian rapper and a whole lot of… feelings. I'm still recovering.

But honestly, that’s what I love about our friendship. We can prank each other mercilessly, laugh until we cry, and still be there for each other when things get tough. It's all in good fun, and it keeps things interesting. Plus, it gives us something to talk about other than, you know, actual adult things. Blegh.
Moral of the story: Lyric pranks are a ridiculously fun way to connect with your friends, unleash your inner comedian, and maybe even annoy them just a little bit. So, go forth and prank! Just be prepared for the inevitable payback. And maybe choose a song that's a little less obvious than "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Just a thought.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go plan my revenge. Sarah’s not going to know what hit her. (Just kidding… mostly.)
Friendship is all about laughter, shared experiences, and the occasional well-placed lyric prank. So, embrace the silliness, connect with your friends, and create some memories that will last a lifetime. After all, life's too short to be serious all the time. Now go forth and spread some joy (and maybe a little bit of lyrical chaos)!
