Mount Coronet Brilliant Diamond

Mount Coronet Brilliant Diamond

Okay, let's talk about Mount Coronet in Brilliant Diamond. We all remember it, right? That giant, snowy mountain you have to climb… like, five times?

Here's my potentially controversial opinion: it's kind of… boring. Don’t get me wrong, the lore is great. But the actual climbing? Snoozeville.

The Eternal Climb: A Love-Hate Relationship

I know, I know! It’s iconic! Team Galactic are there! The legendary Pokémon are at the top! But hear me out.

The problem isn’t the importance of Mount Coronet. It’s the execution. So. Many. Zubats.

Seriously, it feels like 90% of the encounters are Zubats. And Geodudes. You know, the usual suspects.

I swear, every time I stepped into a new cave section, I just sighed. "Here we go again," I'd mutter. Another battle with a Zubat eager to use Supersonic.

Team Galactic: More Annoying Than Threatening?

And Team Galactic? They're supposed to be these menacing villains. World domination and all that jazz.

But honestly, their grunts just felt like slightly more annoying Zubats. Their strategies? Not exactly rocket science.

I always found myself thinking, "Seriously, Cyrus? This is the best you’ve got?" Maybe invest in some decent trainers next time.

The Weather: Friend or Foe?

Then there’s the weather. Blizzard, rain, snow… it’s always something. A minor inconvenience that adds up over time.

Walking through a blizzard while battling hordes of Zubats is not my idea of a good time. I longed for a sunny day in Twinleaf Town.

It just feels like padding. Making the climb longer and more tedious than it needs to be. We get it, it's a mountain.

The Summit: Was it Worth It?

Finally, Dialga or Palkia awaits at the summit! The climax of the game! The culmination of your journey!

And… it’s a pretty cool battle, I guess. But after battling my way through what felt like an endless labyrinth, I was just relieved to be done.

I was more excited about the escape rope to get down than the legendary battle itself. Maybe that says something.

I think the game could have benefited from fewer encounters or a slightly more engaging layout. Some puzzles perhaps?

Unpopular Opinion: It's Just A Bit Dull

So, here's my unpopular opinion, laid bare for all to see: Mount Coronet, while important to the story, is a bit of a slog.

It’s not terrible, mind you. It just feels… repetitive. Too many of the same battles. Too many identical cave corridors.

I appreciate the challenge and the lore, but the actual gameplay experience could use a little sprucing up.

Maybe in a future remake, they could add a mini-game or something to break up the monotony. Or, you know, fewer Zubats.

Look, I still love Brilliant Diamond. It’s a great remake of a classic game. This is just one small niggle.

But next time I play, I might just stock up on Repels and pray for a speedy ascent. And maybe bring some earplugs to drown out the Zubat cries.

So, what do you think? Am I totally off base here? Or do you secretly agree that Mount Coronet could use a little love?

Let me know in the comments! And please, be gentle. I'm just expressing my opinion. Even if it is a little… out there.

Maybe I’m just too impatient for long climbs. Give me a route with a little variety, a cool town, something to look forward to!

I love the games regardless, but I wouldn’t mind if this mountain was re-imagined a little bit in the future. That’s all I’m saying!
