Okay, I'm just going to say it. Solar powered light bulbs for outside? Are we sure we all love them as much as we pretend to? Because I have some thoughts. Probably unpopular ones. But thoughts nonetheless.

Let's paint a picture. You've got your cute little garden. You’ve lovingly placed these solar bulbs around. During the day, they soak up the sun like tiny, silicon-powered sponges. Then, dusk arrives. The moment of truth.

The Dusk Dilemma

And what happens? Well, sometimes they blaze brighter than a landing strip for a UFO. Other times? A sad, pathetic flicker. Like a firefly with a serious identity crisis. Consistency, my friends, is not their strong suit.

It’s like a lottery. Will tonight be a beacon of outdoor ambiance? Or will my guests think I'm trying to save on the electric bill so aggressively that they're worried I’ll ask them to chip in? The suspense is... something. Not relaxing, but something.

And don’t even get me started on the cloudy days. You know, those delightful stretches of weather that seem to last for weeks? During those times, your solar lights are basically just garden ornaments. Expensive, non-illuminating garden ornaments.

So, am I saying solar powered light bulbs are terrible? No. Not necessarily. They have their place. Maybe on a sunny patio where you just want a hint of light. Or perhaps as part of a larger lighting scheme. But for full-on, reliable, consistent outdoor illumination? I’m just not convinced.

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old soul who prefers the predictability of electricity. Maybe I need to embrace the chaos and inconsistency of solar power. Or maybe, just maybe, I'm onto something.
