That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Ogre

That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Ogre

Okay, so you know how sometimes life throws you a curveball? Yeah, well, try getting clocked by reincarnation. Not just any reincarnation, mind you. I’m talking full-blown, isekai-style, “dumped-into-another-world-as-something-completely-bonkers” kind of reincarnation. Wanna guess what I became? Go on, guess! I'll give you a hint: It involves a certain blue slime and a whole lotta green skin.

Yup. That’s right. I got reincarnated into the world of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. And, believe it or not, I ended up as an ogre. Specifically, an ogre. Not the ogre. I wasn't Benimaru. Don't get me wrong, Benimaru is awesome, but no fancy unique skills or anything for me. Just… regular, run-of-the-mill, kinda clumsy ogre-ness. Imagine the sheer awkwardness of THAT!

First off, let me tell you, being an ogre is…well, it's different. You go from worrying about spreadsheets and traffic jams to, like, "Is that a goblin horde heading this way? And are they carrying snacks...or are we the snacks?" Big shift, right? My old life definitely didn't prepare me for constant monster ambushes.

I remember waking up (or... emerging, I guess?) in this forest. Everything was HUGE. And I mean huuuuge. The trees were like skyscrapers, the bugs were the size of small dogs (shudder), and, well, I was green. Really, really green. Not a nice, subtle, foresty green. More like a "Hulk after a bad dye job" green. Not my best look, if I'm honest.

And the strength! Oh my god, the strength! Picking up boulders became my new hobby. Okay, maybe not a hobby, but definitely something I could do. Which was both terrifying and exhilarating. You ever accidentally rip a tree out of the ground while trying to scratch your back? I have. Multiple times. It's as embarrassing as it sounds.

Learning the Ropes (and Trees)

So, there I was, a clueless ogre, stumbling around a new world. What's a newly reincarnated, slightly-less-than-heroic ogre to do? Well, first, I tried to find some other ogres. Misery loves company, right? Plus, I figured they could teach me how to, you know, ogre properly. Turns out, ogre society isn't exactly structured around seminars and group outings. More like smashing things and grunting.

Communication was... challenging. My common tongue was rusty, to say the least. Lots of pointing, gesturing, and accidental property damage. It was like charades, but with significantly higher stakes. One wrong move, and you might accidentally declare war on a tribe of dire wolves. Fun times!

Food was another adventure. Remember those bugs? Turns out, some of them are surprisingly tasty. Crunchy on the outside, squishy on the inside. Don’t knock it till you try it! Though, I did miss pizza. Oh, pizza... a deep pang of longing for delivery and a pepperoni topping would constantly invade my thoughts.

Finding My Place (Maybe?)

I never ran into Rimuru or any of the main cast, sadly. No cool skill-granting slimes for me. Instead, my ogre life became about survival and finding my own path. I helped out some nearby goblin tribes, mostly by scaring away bigger monsters (my green complexion really helped with that). I even learned a little bit of rudimentary healing magic, which was less "epic spellcasting" and more "slapping leaves on wounds and hoping for the best." But hey, it worked sometimes!

Did I become a legendary hero? Nope. Did I save the world? Not even close. But I did learn to appreciate the little things. Like not being stuck in traffic. Or having the strength to open stubborn jars. Or the simple joy of smashing a rock with my bare hands. You know, the important stuff.

The moral of the story?

Reincarnation is weird. And sometimes, you end up as a slightly inept, pizza-deprived ogre. But hey, at least it's a story to tell. And who knows? Maybe one day, I'll even get a skill or two. Or at least find a decent pizza place in this crazy new world. That's the dream, anyway.

So, yeah. That's my tale of being an ogre in another world. What do you think? Crazy, right? Now, about that coffee...
