The music washes over him. He actually cracks a little smile. Maybe, just maybe, things aren't completely awful. At least until the landlord knocks to demand rent, or his toaster oven loses all his eddies betting on robo-horse races.

could easily apply to a desperate romance in a world gone wrong.

Maybe I'm alone in this. Maybe you all think I'm crazy. Maybe you're right. But I truly believe that a little The Smiths could elevate cyberpunk to a whole new level of emotional depth. It would add a layer of relatable human sadness to the cold, hard reality of the genre.
