We All Have Something Within Us That This World Needs

Okay, unpopular opinion time. Ready? Everyone, yes, everyone, has something the world desperately needs. Even you. Don’t roll your eyes yet. I'm serious!
The "Useless" Talent
Think about it. What’s that one thing you're secretly good at? Maybe you can fold fitted sheets perfectly. Or perhaps you can name all the Pokémon. My superpower? I can parallel park anything. Anything.
People might laugh. They might say it's a "useless" talent. But who gets the last laugh when they're circling the block for an hour? Me, that's who!
Must Read
The Ripple Effect of Awesomeness
Seriously, though. These seemingly small things contribute. They make someone's day a little brighter. They spark a connection. They remind us we're all just trying to figure things out.
Take my friend, Sarah. She's an amazing baker. Makes the most incredible cookies. She brings them to every potluck. This simple act of kindness changes the atmosphere. Smiles all around thanks to Sarah's cookies.
That's a ripple effect. All from a batch of chocolate chip goodness. Don't underestimate the power of a well-baked cookie. Or your hidden talents!
Embrace Your Inner Weirdo
Maybe you're an encyclopedia of obscure movie quotes. Great! Someone out there needs to hear, "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way," at the exact right moment. Trust me.

Or perhaps you can make animal noises. Perfect! A stressed-out toddler somewhere requires your perfect seal bark. The world needs your unique brand of weird.
My grandma could whistle through her teeth like nobody's business. People actually stopped what they were doing to listen! Who knew whistling could be a superpower?
The World Needs Your Spark
It’s not about being a rocket scientist or a Nobel laureate. Although, those are cool too. It's about bringing your specific brand of awesome to the table. Your spark.
Think about Mr. Rogers. He wasn't curing diseases. He was just…being kind. And look at the impact he had!

He showed kids (and adults) that it's okay to be themselves. That's a pretty powerful message. And he did it with puppets and songs. Amazing!
The "I'm Not Good at Anything" Myth
Now, I know what some of you are thinking. "I'm not good at anything." I call baloney! Everyone is good at something.
Maybe you're a great listener. Maybe you give amazing hugs. Maybe you always know how to make someone laugh. These are valuable skills!
These are the things that make us human. These are the things that connect us. Never underestimate the power of a good hug.

Discovering Your Secret Weapon
Sometimes it takes a little digging to find your secret weapon. Think back to what you enjoyed as a kid. What comes naturally to you?
Ask your friends and family. They might see something you don't. They might say, "You always make the best playlists!" or "You give the best advice!" Listen to them. They might be onto something.
My friend Mark thought he wasn't good at anything. Turns out, he's a master storyteller. He just needed someone to point it out.
So, What’s Your Thing?
I'm not saying you need to go out and change the world single-handedly. Though, go for it if you want! I'm simply suggesting to embrace your unique talents. Big or small.

Share them with the world. Even if it's just with your family, your friends, or your coworkers. You never know who you might inspire. You never know whose day you might brighten.
So go out there and be your awesome, weird, wonderful self. Because the world needs it. Seriously. It does.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a parking spot to conquer. It's a tight squeeze, but I'm up for the challenge!
And remember, even a perfectly parallel parked car can bring a tiny bit of joy. Just saying.
