West Seattle Power Outage Today Update

West Seattle Power Outage Today Update

So, about that West Seattle power outage today, huh? Let's be honest. Half of us probably saw it coming. It's practically a West Seattle tradition. Like bridge closures, ferry delays, and the eternal quest for parking near Alki.

Did your lights flicker? Mine did. Just enough to make my cat, Mr. Fluffernutter, jump a foot in the air. He then proceeded to glare at the fridge like it personally offended him. I feel you, Mr. Fluffernutter. I feel you.

The Great West Seattle Power Pause: Our Unpopular Opinions

Now, here's where I get brave. Prepare for some potentially controversial takes. Buckle up, buttercups!

Unpopular Opinion #1: Maybe, just maybe, this is a sign. A sign that we need to finally embrace candle-making as a legitimate hobby. All those essential oils and pretty jars? Investment, people. Investment!

Okay, okay, I’m kidding… sort of. But seriously, a good supply of candles never hurt anyone. Unless you’re Mr. Fluffernutter, who views them as tempting, waxy snacks. We're working on that.

Unpopular Opinion #2: Let’s all admit it. A power outage is the perfect excuse to order pizza. Like, guilt-free pizza. "Oh no, I can't possibly cook dinner in the dark!" dials pizza place with a gleam in my eye Blame Seattle City Light, folks. They're practically endorsing pepperoni.

Don't judge me. You know you’ve done it too. Plus, supporting local businesses is always a good thing, right?

Unpopular Opinion #3: This is prime "neighbor bonding" time! Remember those people who live next door? The ones you only wave to when you're taking out the trash? Now's your chance to borrow a flashlight, share some (melted) ice cream, and swap outage survival stories. Maybe even start a neighborhood board game night! (Powered by candlelight, of course.)

Unless your neighbors are the types who hoard all the batteries. Then, maybe just wave from a safe distance and enjoy your pizza.

Unpopular Opinion #4: Isn’t this a teensy bit relaxing? I mean, sure, working from home becomes a bit…challenging. But think of it as a forced digital detox. No emails. No Zoom meetings. Just you, your cat (probably still glaring at the fridge), and the sweet, sweet silence of unplugged life.

Okay, maybe not complete silence. There’s probably the faint sound of your phone battery draining rapidly. But still! Embrace the moment! (While you still have battery life.)

The Aftermath

So, what happens next? Well, eventually the power will come back on. Seattle City Light will swoop in like the electric superheroes they are. And we’ll all go back to our regularly scheduled programming.

But for a few glorious hours, we were united. United in our dependence on electricity. United in our craving for pizza. And united in our secret, slightly-relieved appreciation for a little break from the digital grind.

Until the next time, West Seattle. Stay powered up… or at least keep those candles handy. Mr. Fluffernutter says hi (and also, stop hiding the laser pointer).

Speaking of heroes, let's give a shout-out to the folks at Seattle City Light who are working hard to get everyone back online. They're probably dealing with a lot right now. So, maybe hold off on the angry tweets… for a little while, anyway.

And one final thought: maybe next time, we can all agree to have a pre-planned power outage party. With pizza, candles, and maybe even a generator-powered karaoke machine. Just a thought.

Stay strong, West Seattle! We'll get through this... together. And with plenty of caffeine... once the power's back on, that is.
