Before you start sharpening your hunting knives (metaphorically, of course), let me explain. By the time late season rolls around, it's basically winter. The deer are hunkered down, conserving energy. The woods are bleak and frozen. And frankly, I'm ready to binge-watch Netflix in my pajamas.

Am I the only one who feels this way? I'm picturing myself out there, half-frozen, desperately trying to coax a deer out from under a snowdrift. All while dreaming of hot cocoa and a roaring fire.

Plus, by late season, I've usually eaten all the venison sausage I made in the Fall. I'm ready for something different! My freezer needs a break. My arteries need a break.

The Argument for an Earlier End

Wouldn't it be nice if deer season ended a little earlier? Maybe before the holidays? Think of it! We could all relax and enjoy the festive season without the pressure of bagging that last buck. We could focus on family, friends, and the annual viewing of "A Christmas Story."
