Working For Doordash Requirements

Working For Doordash Requirements

So, You Want to Be a Doordash Driver? Buckle Up!

Thinking about joining the Doordash crew? Awesome! It seems simple, right? Drive around, deliver food, and get paid. But hold on there, speedy.

The Obvious Stuff (Probably)

First, you need a car. Shocker! It needs to be street legal, of course. No driving your go-kart on public roads, sadly. Safety first, my friends!

Then, you need a driver's license. Again, makes sense, right? You can't exactly deliver food without knowing how to drive. Unless you have a trained squirrel. But that's another story.

Insurance is a must-have. Nobody wants an accident without coverage. Imagine explaining that to your insurance company. "Yeah, I was delivering a burrito..."

And finally, you need to pass a background check. They want to make sure you're not, you know, a supervillain. Fair enough, I guess.

The Not-So-Obvious (And Slightly Annoying) Bits

Here's where things get a little… interesting. These are my (slightly) unpopular opinions. I said it!

Vehicle Requirements: Is My Car Good Enough?

Doordash says your car needs to be "reliable." But what does that even MEAN? My car is reliable...ish. Mostly.

Okay, okay, it makes a weird noise sometimes. And the AC is a little questionable. But it gets me from point A to point burrito! I think it's enough.

Plus, who wants to put all those miles on a brand new car? My old car is already emotionally prepared for the wear and tear. It's a seasoned veteran!

The Age Thing: Are You Too Old (or Young) to Dash?

You gotta be at least 18. Obvious. But sometimes I feel ancient trying to navigate the app. I swear, teenagers understand this stuff instinctively.

Meanwhile, I'm over here squinting at my phone. Trying to figure out where "Grub Gulch" even is. My phone keeps yelling at me "Recalculating!"

Maybe they should have an Age requirement to dash - but on the opposite end! I think it'd be funny.

App Mastery: Can You Even Use a Smartphone?

Okay, this is a big one. You need to be able to use the Doordash app. It sounds easy, but trust me, it can be a challenge.

First, there's the navigation. Sometimes it's spot on. Other times, it leads you down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. "You have arrived!" it cheerfully announces.

Then there's the whole "accepting and rejecting orders" dance. One wrong tap and suddenly you're delivering ten milkshakes to a house 30 minutes away. No thank you!

And don't even get me STARTED on the customer instructions. "Leave at back door under the gnome". I just want to leave the food!

The "Professionalism" Myth

Doordash expects you to be professional. Sure. But I think we can all agree that nobody expects a delivery driver in a stained t-shirt to be a shining example of corporate etiquette.

As long as I'm clean-ish, reasonably polite, and get the food there in a decent amount of time, I think I'm good. Don't you?

I'm not saying you should deliver food in your pajamas. But a little bit of realness is okay, right? This isn't a Fortune 500 company. It's pizza.

The Bottom Line: Is It Worth It?

So, after all that, is working for Doordash worth it? It depends. It's flexible, which is great.

But you also have to deal with traffic, grumpy customers, and the occasional rogue GPS. And finding parking is a nightmare!

But hey, at least you get to listen to your own music while you drive around. And sometimes, you get really nice tips. So maybe it is worth it. Maybe.

Just remember to buckle up, keep your car (mostly) reliable, and try not to get lost. Good luck, and happy dashing!

And for the love of all that is holy, learn how to use the app.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Doordash, and these are just my silly opinions. Drive safe and be kind to your delivery drivers!
